Photography

On this page I would like to explain some of the different types of photography that I enjoy shooting and offer as services. While the basic mechanics of shooting remain pretty constant, the application and interaction varies with the different styles of shooting. Portrait photography is more personal, while event photography is more about the overall event and activities. The interactions at an event can be personal, or sometimes unnoticed as I capture candid moments and events unfolding. Real estate and commercial photography are more about the property or products, so frequently the only interaction is while we are discussing the details and arranging the shoot. I’ve been an entertainer, primarily a balloon artist, so I am good at interacting with people and navigating events, but I also enjoy the solitude and peace of real estate, commercial, nature, and landscape photography. I also feel that shooting the different types of photography allows me to expand my skills and continually grow and evolve as a photographer.

Event Photography

Obviously, event photography is the art of capturing photos of people enjoying themselves and special moments at events like birthday parties, company picnics, and more. I have been an entertainer since 1989 and have personally attended countless events of all types during that time. I can use my event experience to help me capture special moments because I understand the general flow of events and know what to watch for as they unfold. Of course, I will also get with the event host before the start of any event to find out about any special moments that they want to make sure I capture.

Portrait Photography

Portraits can be of an individual, a family, children, or pets. They can be general photos for framing or sharing, or specific photos like for special times like a graduation, an engagement, a proposal, or holiday cards. I will discuss your portrait session with you to find out what your expectations and final uses for the photos will be. We will also discuss the location of the photos and any special requirements that apply to your photo shoot. Special requirements may apply to lighting, entry fees, and in some cases permits and or licenses required to shoot in some locations like botanical gardens or resorts. I will do my best to make sure there are no surprises, and the shoot goes as smoothly as possible. As a pet lover and children’s entertainer, I have years of experience dealing with both and understand some of the special considerations involved in both types of photography.

Commercial and Real Estate Photos

These are both more specialized types of photos, but I am available to both. For smaller product photos, you can provide me with the products and I can shoot the photos at my house. Unless otherwise specified, the products will be returned after the photos have been taken. For items that are too large, numerous, or valuable for me to do the shoot at my house, I can come to your location for the shoot. Naturally, real estate photography will be taken at the location of the property. I will take into account the affect that the natural lighting has on the view and try to take the photos at a time that captures the best lighting and look of the property. I can also use PhotoShop to edit the sky, grass, and other aspects of the photo to make a better presentation. Of course, I will not alter the property in any way that presents a false representation of it.

Finished Photos

I have been using Photoshop since the early 1990’s and shoot all photos in RAW to give me the maximum data to work with. All photos will be post processed to bring out the best in them, and also to meet any expectations or requirements presented by the client. The processing time can take up to a week depending on the number of photos taken and how full my calendar is at the time. Once the photos are finished, they will be delivered to the client in one of several ways, depending on the need of the client and number of photos. The method of delivery will be determined prior to the photo shoot and agreed upon by both parties. If only a few photos are required, they can be emailed or posted in an online gallery. For shoots that produce too many photos to be emailed, they will be posted in an online gallery, or shared via a file sharing platform such as Dropbox. Mailing a CD with the photos is also an option. The online gallery is the default method due to its ease of use. Once posted to the gallery, an email will be sent to the client notifying them that the photos are ready. The gallery allows not only for viewing, but downloading of digital files by the client, as well as the option to purchase prints in various sizes and formats. Any orders will be completed by a third party, professional photo lab, and products will be mailed directly to the client, or whomever places the order. I also have sites where the photos can be uploaded and products other than photos can be ordered such as calendars, coffee mugs, canvas prints and more.
